2017 Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear West Coast and National Schedules Announced

The Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear announced the 2017 schedule today. The series will race this upcoming season at Portland International Raceway, Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Auto Club Speedway, and a variety of configurations at Sonoma Raceway, including at the GoPro Grand Prix with IndyCar. "As has been the model since the series inception, the majority of our events will feature exclusive track time for our drivers," stated FCC Series Official Ben Hettema.
There are three "diamond" events on the West Coast 2017 calendar being announced today. These three events will make up the Triple Crown to determine the 2017 Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear National Champions. The first one takes place in July at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In September, the Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear is a featured series during the GoPro Grand Prix alongside IndyCar at Sonoma. The final diamond event is at the Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships (PCRRC) in October at Auto Club Speedway.
"We are excited about the Triple Crown format," stated World Speed Communications Director Mark Milazzo. "We believe that this mix of technical tracks makes the Formula Car National Championships even more significant." 2017 marks the 12th Anniversary of the Formula Car Challenge series, and the third consecutive season that the FCC National Champions will be determined on their performances from multiple weekends.
Racers have already started testing for the 2017 FCC season, and the next race on the FCC calendar is the opening weekend of the Winter Series Championships at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California on January 13th-15th.
