Written Approval Received From Monterey County To Hold June 5th-7th Double-Header at WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway
It was verified late last week, that the early June WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway event would take place. “We’re excited to get back to racing,” noted Series Official Mark Milazzo. “There are a lot of precautions and restrictions due to the virus, but everyone in the paddock has many years of competing under strict rules, and I have every confidence that they will understand and follow the protocols. We’re all ready to move forward safely, and get on track!”
The SCCA added an extra day to the schedule, which is allowing more space in the schedule. This should stagger and lower the number of people in the paddock at any given time. Group 4, which includes the FCC presented by Goodyear drivers, already has 18 entered competitors. The expected weekend schedule for Group 4 is:
Friday June 5th
Practice: 11:30 – 11:50
Qualify 1: 4:20 – 4:45
Saturday June 6th
Qualify 2: 11:30 – 11:50
Race 1: 4:20 – 4:45
Sunday June 7th
15 minute warm-up: 10:00
Race 2: 4:20 – 4:45
The Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear championship was able to squeeze in the March 14-15 Thunderhill Raceway double-header a day before the mandatory shelter in place went into effect. Bill Weaver won both of those races in the Formula Mazda class, and John Purcell secured both of the Pro FM wins. More information on the series is available at: www.FormulaCarChallenge.com
