FCC competitor Christian Okpysh secured the 2024 Formula Mazda class championship this past weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Okpysh was vice-champion in 2022, and champion in 2023 and closed out the 2024 season in style with two pole positions and two wins. Okypysh competed in 13 races, and secured 12 race wins in his quest for the FM crown.
A total of twenty four Formula Mazda racers competed this year and ten FM class racers were fighting inside a Cal Club SCCA group of twenty racers at the season finale. The field of ten included a strong contingent of past race winners, as well as previous FCC champions Bill Weaver and Cameron Parsons.

This year Bill Weaver secured the 2024 SFR SCCA FM championship which is a portion of the overall FCC points battle. The FCC championship adds a Buttonwillow as well as a Portland event for the title. While Bill Weaver gained a lot of points in the Northern California events, Okpysh’s overall performance at FCC Norcal events and across the Cal Club and Portland events secured him the coveted FCC championship title.
The 2025 schedule is expected to be announced in an upcoming press release and will include races at Laguna Seca, Sonoma Raceway, Portland International Raceway, Thunderhill Raceway Park, and Buttonwillow Raceway Park.
